Brief description of St Leonard's                   

St Leonards is a beautiful Grade 2 listed Church, 13th Century but first mentioned in the Domesday Book.  It is situated in rolling countryside & was built to serve the surrounding manors and farms. The congregation is friendly and welcomes visitors to stay after services to enjoy refreshments.

Service details

Services are at 11.15 and many are from the BCP. Communion is on the 1st & 3rd Sundays with sung Matins on the others. Additionally, there are regular country services: Plough, Rogation, Lammas and Harvest. Other special services include commemorations of those who have been baptised, married or departed.  There is an Animal Blessing service and a thanksgiving for Thomas Kelly, a poor local man who became Lord Mayor of London and was always very generous to the folk of Chelsham.  He is buried in the Churchyard and bread is shared on his Sunday. On some evenings there are also Taize services.
