The Diocese of Rochester covers the western part of Kent and the London Boroughs of Bexley and Bromley. The Rochester Branch is grateful for the ongoing interest and support it receives from the Bishops of Rochester and Tonbridge.

We produce a newsletter four times a year, giving details of forthcoming Branch events which are normally social gatherings and tea before attending Sunday Evensong at a parish church. The newsletter also covers other special occasions to which we are invited, such as an annual lecture, Advent services and Compline in Lent.

St Martin Chelsfield

The Branch has two corporate member churches: St Martin of Tours, Chelsfield, and St Botolph’s, Lullingstone Castle.

Each year from 1998 we have given our newly ordained deacons leather bound enlarged print presentation Prayer Books, an initiative which has been supported by our Bishops and has been taken up by other branches. We now also give enlarged standard bound Books of Common Prayer to new Readers in the diocese.

Rochester Junior Finalists

In 2013, for the first time, we ran our own heats for the Cranmer Awards, having previously sponsored classes at the Bromley Festival as qualifying heats.

Rochester Event

Exhibitions were held at St Botolph’s, Lullingstone, in each of the three past years:  2011 to mark the 400th anniversary of the Authorised Version of the Bible, 2012 for the 350th anniversary of the Book of Common Prayer, and 2013 for the 60th anniversary of the Coronation. Talks were given to other churches and groups on these subjects, illustrated with some objects from the exhibitions.

Much of this material is still available by arrangement with the secretaries.
