Visit to All Hallows by the Tower - Rochester and London & Southwark Branch

April 29 at 11:00 am

This event has been organised jointly by the Rochester and London and Southwark branches of the Society and is initially limited to 10 members each on a first come first served basis. Should either branch not fill their quota places will be open to those on the waiting list.

All Hallows by the Tower has history stretching back to 675AD, 300 years earlier than the Tower of London and claims to be the oldest church in the City of London. The church survived the Great Fire of London in 1666 but was badly damaged during the Blitz in World War II. It was rededicated in 1957 after extensive rebuilding. From 1922 until 1962 the vicar was Rev’d Philip “Tubby” Clayton, the founder of the international Christian organisation Toc H.

The tour lasts approximately one hour and includes The Crypt Museum. There is a charge of £5 per person payable on the day.

To book a place please contact Mr and Mrs G E Comer on 01732 461462 or e-mail .

There is an adjacent café: the Byward Kitchen and Bar, and a group lunch booking could be arranged for those who are interested.
