Diana Cheal has been appointed as the permanent full-time Chief Executive Officer of the Prayer Book Society.
Diana is currently Head of Corporate Sector and Business Development for executive catering recruiters, Greycoat Lumleys.
Her personal faith was one of the main reasons she applied for the post.
A life-long user of the Book of Common Prayer, Diana regularly attends a PBS Corporate Member church in North Dorset, where she’s an active member of the congregation.
“I’ll be 38 this year and I’ve been going to church for 37 years,” she says. “I find it so peaceful, so meditative. It’s an amazing opportunity, particularly when you’re working in a hard job to go and have a moment to yourself to switch off entirely. When living in London, Diana used to regularly attend Evensong at Chelsea Old Church, “because it set you up really well for the week ahead.”
Asked about the cross over between Executive Catering and running the Prayer Book Society she says, “You couldn’t do the Prayer Society role if you didn’t have faith. But there is much in my current role which I will can bring to the Society. Such as business development and growth, which I have a lot of experience in.”
"Diana joins the Prayer Book Society at an important moment in our history,as we seek to significantly grow our membership and develop our outreach" " says Bradley Smith, Chairman of the PBS.
"Her lively Christian faith, lifelong commitment to the Book of Common Prayer, and vast professional experience make her ideally suited to lead us through the challenges and opportunities of the present time."
Diana says her early plans for her new role with the PBS, “Will be to get out and meet as many people as possible and to speak to the branches we already have to see what we can do to help them more. In business terms, it’s all very well going to grow an organisation but if your current clients are not happy with the service you are offering, there’s no point in going to get new clients, because they are unlikely to be happy with it either.”
In her spare time Diana is a keen horse woman, keeping two of her own.
She takes up her new post on March 9th, replacing Interim CEO David Harvey, whose temporary managerial role ends after a year.
