A record number of bursaries have been applied for by young people to attend this year's PBS annual conference.
Starting today (Tuesday 10 September) the conference at St Chad's College, Durham will be attended by over 90 members and supporters.
Thirty young people under 30, ordinands and licensed clergy are attending on the reduced rates offered by the bursary scheme.
"I am delighted that the PBS Conference is such an attractive proposition for so many young people," says PBS Chairman, Bradley Smith. "It underlines the appeal that the Book of Common Prayer has for so many younger worshipers."
Under the title of The Hope of Glory, the conference will welcome a wide variety of speakers over the next three days. They include Dr Samuel Tranter, Academic Dean, Cranmer Hall, the Very Revd Philip Plyming, Dean of Durham, the Revd Canon Michael Hampel, Vice Dean and Precentor of Durham and Dr Elizabeth Hare, Old Testament Tutor, Cranmer Hall. Three devotional addresses will be given during conference services by the Revd Dr Catherine Reid, Anglican Chaplain, University of York.
