A weekend of singing Stanford, Rathbone and High Victorian hymns led by Prof Jeremy Dibble of Durham University. Saturday morning rehearsal workshop, lunch, hymn singing session, followed by piano recital and black tie dinner, and performance in Sunday morning service at Sarum St Martin Church.
Saturday 14 September
9.30am-1.00pm Singing Workshop with Professor Jeremy Dibble, Emeritus Professor of Music, Durham, preparing Stanford Mass in C op.115 and Rathbone’s ‘Rejoice in the Lord Alway’, includes coffee and light lunch.
2.00-4.00pm Musically Illustrated talk on the Great Victorian Hymns by Professor Jeremy Dibble, noted expert on Stanford and British and Irish music of that era. Singing in 4-part harmony, followed by tea and cake.
4.30-6.00pm Piano Recital. Allan Schiller, international concert pianist, plays Mozart, Haydn, Bach, Scarlatti and more.
7.30-10.00pm White Hart Hotel: Black tie, champagne reception and 3 course dinner and coffee with after dinner speech by Allan Schiller.
Sunday 15 September
9.15-10.15am Rehearsal
10.30am Choral Eucharist at Sarum St Martin including the Stanford Mass in C and Rathbone.
