
You are warmly invited to a festival Choral Evensong, followed by a drinks reception sponsored by The Prayer Book Society, at All Saints', Poplar, on October 9th, 2022. The service begins at 5pm.
The music will include Bairstow's I sat down under his shadow, Balfour Gardiner's Evening Hymn, Sumsion's Evening Service in G and Sumsion's setting of the Preces and Responses. The homily is given by The Rev'd Matt Wall, Vicar of St. Nicholas Poplar.
The music is led by the
East London Evensong Choir, founded six years ago with the simple aim of promoting Evensong and the Book of Common Prayer in London's East End. It is made up of skilled volunteer singers from across east London, who share a love of of quality choral liturgy. The choir is now based under the magnificent Georgian portico of All Saints' Poplar, while also enjoying relationships with other churches such as St. Mary's Cable Street and St. Anne's Hoxton. This event aims to celebrate and promote the work of the East London Evensong Choir, in the hope of sharing its work still further.
