Myles Coverdale is best known as the first translator of the complete Bible into English after the invention of printing, and countless Anglicans still read his translation of the Psalms in the Book of Common Prayer. This former Roman Catholic priest later became an Anglican bishop under Edward VI. He escaped being burned at the stake when Mary was Queen and became an early Puritan in the reign of Elizabeth I. His Christian life, spanning the first forty years of the Reformation in England, has rarely been told.
