On Wednesday, 22 nd February at 11am there will be a service of Morning Prayer followed by the Litany and Commination; the services directed by the Prayer Book for use on Ash Wednesday.
The Litany is rarely heard and even less “A Commination or Denouncing of God's Anger and Judgements against Sinners” and all PBS members will be welcome to join the congregation for the said service. There will be no music, in keeping with the penitential season.
After the service, a frugal lunch of bread, cheese and soup will be offered, with donations going to Porchlight, the Kent charity for the homeless. To book lunch please contact Mr and Mrs G E Comer on 01732 461462 or e-mail .
For any who have not visited St Botolph’s before, a guided tour of the church will be available after lunch.
To find St Botolph’s, turn off the main road in the centre of Eynsford, opposite St Martin’s Church, crossing the river by the stone bridge. Follow the lane under a splendid viaduct, past Lullingstone Roman Villa, until you reach the Tudor gatehouse of Lullingstone Castle. Visitors to the church may park on the grass outside the gatehouse. The church is through the gatehouse, on the lawn.
