The Chief Executive Officer of the PBS, Diana Collins has a letter printed in the Daily Telegraph's comment section.
She was responding to an article written by the renowned composer Sir John Rutter entitled, Choral Evensong is a beacon of hope in our disordered society, published on October 7th. In it he highlighted the joy of rounding off a weekend by attending a service of Evensong, preferably Choral Evensong.
Agreeing with Sir John, Diana noted the resurgence in the popularity of Evensong, both choral and spoken. "I really believe that this should be in the language of the Book of Common Prayer. Those timeless words wash over you, providing familiarity and succour in an uncertain world," she says. Evensong song at the end of the weekend, "sets you up for the week ahead".

Sir - I read Sir John Rutter’s article (“Choral Evensong is a beacon of hope in our disordered society”, Comment, Oct 7) and couldn’t agree more. There is nothing better than rounding off the weekend with an Evensong, choral or not, and it sets you up for the week ahead.
I am biased, but I really believe that this should be in the language of the Book of Common Prayer. Those timeless words wash over you, providing familiarity and succour in an uncertain world.
At the Prayer Book Society, we are seeing a resurgence in attendance at Evensong, which is becoming our most popular service. Many people feel the same way as Sir John.
