The 2026 AGM took place on Saturday 29th August. The PBS’ Chairman Bradley Smith chaired the meeting which was held at St James’ Garlickhythe, London.
The meeting received the Annual Report and Financial Statements of the Society. Deputy Chairman and Treasurer, Paul Meitner briefed the meeting.
Mr Iain Milne was reappointed as a Trustee of the Society for a further four years. “Iain is actively involved in the life of the Society,” said Bradley. “He chairs both the Communications and Nominations committees. He brings vast legal expertise to the Board’s deliberations and is regarded as a excellent loyal colleague.”
The meeting also approved the appointment to the Board of Trustees of the Revd Dr Benjamin Sargent. Ben is the Dean of Chapel at Winchester College, since 2015 he has been a member of the Church of England’s General Synod. In his spare time he is a ‘budding’ triathlete and with his wife Kelly, they have eight children.
The formal business of the meeting completed, the Chairman wanted to put on record a few other remarks.
The structure of the Society has changed over the recent past and Bradley paid tribute to the work of Fi Rosen, the PBS’ former Company Secretary. He called her contribution over seven years ‘diligent’ and described her as ‘a great colleague’.
Bradley also highlighted the work of John Service. His role as Clergy and Churches co-ordinator came to an end in December 2025. “I do want to thank John most sincerely, for the great deal of work, time and energy he has investing in the Prayer Book Society over many years,” said Bradley.
Neil Rhys, Chairman of the Tyndale Society followed the AGM with a lecture on the life and work of Bible translator William Tyndale. Watch the whole presentation here.
