The Prayer Book Society has gifted over 630 Book of Common resource packs to theological students this year.
Every new ordinand entering training at the beginning of the 2024 academic year has been presented with a BCP resource pack.
It contains material on how to conduct BCP services, a leaflet detailing the work of the Prayer Book Society and a copy of the Society’s academic theological publication, “Faith and Worship”.
Of the 639 packs distributed, 120 went to St Mellitus College, London, 59 to students at St Hild College, Mirfield and 55 to Emmanuel College, Warrington. In total, 24 colleges received packs including institutions in Wales and Ireland.
“It’s vital that the next cohort of ordinands have access to the beauty, dignity and majesty of the Book of Common Prayer,” says John Service, the PBS’ churches and clergy co-ordinator. “The PBS has been distributing resource packs to Theological Educational Institutes since 2008. With every passing year I strongly feel the gratitude for the gift of the packs. They have also markedly increased the standing of the Prayer Book Society’s within the TEI’s,” he says.
This year’s pack also included an online discount code to give all the ordinands the opportunity to join the Society with a 50% discount on their first year of membership. An offer which has been enthusiastically taken up.
