PBS appoints CEO

Charity expert David Harvey has been an appointed as interim Chief Executive Officer for the Prayer Book Society.

David, who started on March 1st, will work with the trustees and administrative team to begin the process of implementing the 2025-2029 strategic plan, which the PBS published last year.

“My role is to lay the foundations for the implementation of the strategic plan, while keeping the current operation functioning and assessing whether it needs to change,”says David. “It will culminate by taking a set of recommendations to the board of trustees about what the next steps are, which could include the appointment of a permanent CEO,”

With 35 years' experience in the not-for-profit and charity sector, David has served as a CEO working globally, and as both trustee and chair for charities of various sizes. His recent work has focused on interim leadership roles, helping charities focus on their founding purposes while adapting to contemporary needs, typically culminating in the recruitment of a longer-term permanent leader after a number of months.

“David Harvey joins the Prayer Book Society at a significant moment as we seek to make our future vision a reality," says PBS Chairman Bradley Smith. "He brings vast experience to the role, and our staff and trustees look forward to working with him in the year ahead."

A Chartered Accountant and member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, David will work half time for the PBS in the new role.
