The Lord Cormack RIP

Lord Cormack, President of the Prayer Book Society has sadly died, aged 84.

Leading the tributes for the PBS, Chairman Bradley Smith said, “Lord Cormack served as a loyal and faithful President over several decades. I always found him a wise and kind counsellor, ever willing to offer sage advice and his full support of all our aims and activities. We will miss him greatly.”

Patrick Cormack, a long-serving Conservative MP, was made a life peer in 2010 and Knighted in 1995, has be President of the Society for many years.

As an MP, Patrick Cormack was elected 10 times to Parliament serving from 1970 to 2010. He represented the constituency of South Staffordshire and held positions of shadow minister for constitutional affairs and shadow deputy leader of the House of Commons.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd Justin Welby also paid tribute to Lord Cormack as “a vivid character whose decades of public service were driven by his Christian service.
